What Open Door is

Open Door is a coaching support service, operated by Open Door Text ("we"), that helps parents of teens ages 12 to 17 think through what to say after hard moments. Your first reply is drafted with the help of artificial intelligence. A person on our team reads every conversation, sends our texts, and checks in with you.

Open Door is not therapy, counseling, medical care, or legal advice, and it is not an emergency service. If anyone may be in danger, call or text 988, or call 911.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older, live in the United States, and be a parent or guardian. We never contact your teen.

Subscription and cancellation

Open Door costs $19 per month, charged when you subscribe and on the same date each month until you cancel. You can cancel any time by texting CANCEL to our number or by emailing help@opendoortext.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If Open Door isn't right for you, ask for a full refund within 7 days of your first payment by texting us or emailing help@opendoortext.com.

SMS and messaging terms

Program: Open Door coaching messages.

What you'll receive: your reply, replies to the messages you send, and check-ins at the time you choose, from a person on our team (some drafted with AI). Messages may arrive by iMessage or SMS.

Frequency: varies with how often you text us; typically one to five messages a day while you are using the service.

Cost: message and data rates may apply.

Opt out: reply STOP at any time to stop all messages. Reply HELP for help, or email help@opendoortext.com.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase other than this messaging service itself.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you send us. You allow us to use it to provide and improve the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

Limits of the service

AI and people can make mistakes. Use your own judgment and seek professional help when you need it. To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 3 months.
